Double-edged sword: Samsung's curved Galaxy S6 Edge (pictures)

Following in the footsteps of the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung launches a variant of the Galaxy S6 that sports similar curves.

The S6 Edge, left, has two curves versus the Note Edge's more aggressive right-hand dive.

From the front, the S6 Edge looks almost identical to the S6, except for the slight curves on both sides of the screen.

It differs from the Note Edge in the fact that its rounded left edge is friendly to southpaws, too.

Unlike the S6, the S6 Edge has its SIM card tray at the phone's head.

The S6's curve is shallower than the Note Edge's.

I think the rounded display gives the phone a more organic look and feel.

The S6 Edge is a hair chubbier than the Galaxy S6.

The Galaxy S6, top, has its SIM card holder on its spine. Not so for the S6 Edge, which carries it up top.

Samsung is making the S6 Edge in four colors with highly reflective backings. Emerald green is the most unusual, next to gold. It also comes in white and black.

Gorilla Glass covers the back of the GS6 Edge. This is the emerald green version.

Unless the light hits it just right, the green S6 Edge can look black.

The 5.1-inch Galaxy S6 Edge won't squeeze comfortably into smaller pockets, but it's smaller than the 5.7-inch Note Edge.

Samsung will sell its own wireless charging pad for the Qi-compatible S6 and S6 Edge.

You'll be able to use other pads too.

You can stick the display's edge with up to five designated contacts.

The contacts appears as bubble heads.
