PlushBeds is a brand that makes sustainably sourced beds handcrafted right here in the USA. We’ve reviewed several of its beds at this point, but most notably, many iterations of the Botanical Bliss mattress have come and gone through our doors. I even remember when you had to take the bed apart layer by layer to move it -- man, back in the day, times were tough.

Since then, the Botanical Bliss has come a long way. We now have the nine-inch Medium model of the mattress, and there are some noteworthy differences from previous versions that we’ve tested. In this review, I’ll cover what’s new with this mattress and try to help determine if it’s the right bed for you.

First impressions of the Botanical Bliss mattress

This bed shipped to us for completely free, but as opposed to bed-in-a-box shipping, it showed up fully sized. This resulted in a literal mountain of cardboard after the unboxing, but it was still quick and easy to complete. Not to mention, the bed was fully formed right out of the box -- after unboxing so many beds, it’s nice to be able to sleep on something night one.

Upon testing the mattress, we found it to have the same feel and firmness you’d expect from an all-latex foam bed. It’s responsive and springy, offering a nice amount of support for back and stomach sleepers. There are now handles along the sides and foot of the bed to make moving it around a bit easier.

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress firmness and feel

What does the Botanical Bliss mattress feel like?

Dillon Lopez/CNET

As mentioned, this bed definitely has a springy and responsive latex foam feel. Since the majority of the mattress is composed of various latex foams, it’s easy to see why it feels as such. The organic wool and cotton also add to the bed’s comfort, providing extra cushion and pressure relief on top.

Unlike the divisive nature of memory foam, most people don’t seem to mind the feel of latex foam. It’s a bit more responsive than neutral foam, but it definitely doesn’t provide any sort of sink-in quality. Instead, you’ll feel buoyant on the mattress, almost like the comfort layers are propping you up rather than allowing your body to sink into them. Aside from being ultra-responsive, the biggest appeal of latex foam is that it’s an ethically sourced material -- all of which is organically certified, I might add.

How firm is the Botanical Bliss mattress?

plushbeds-botanical-bliss-2025-sleepers-dl-7.jpg
Dillon Lopez/CNET

We have the medium model in the 9-inch height profile, and this version of the bed seems to sit between a medium and a medium-firm, to us at least. Firmness is an altogether subjective thing that usually depends on your body type. If you’re a heavier person, you’ll likely sink into a bed more, finding it softer. If you’re more petite, you’ll lie more on top of a sleeping surface and find beds to be generally firmer. This firmness ranking for the Botanical Bliss is based on how firm an average-sized individual would find it to be.

For years, we’ve ranked mattress firmness from a subjective perspective, but we now have a machine called the Mattress Smasher 9000 that objectively tests how soft or firm a mattress is. After pressing into the bed with a precise pressure gauge, it gave this version of the Botanical Bliss a score of 6.3 out of 10 -- pretty much on-target with our subjective thoughts firmness-wise.

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress construction

This is a more luxurious style of all-latex foam bed that’s made up entirely of ethically sourced materials. Here’s what goes into this mattress:

  1. On the bottom, you’ve got a 6-inch support core of latex foam. This acts as the fundamental support system for the mattress
  2. Then, you’ve got around 2 inches of certified organic latex, which serves as the bed’s main comfort layer.
  3. Next is a thin layer of organic wool to provide the mattress with some additional comfort and pressure relief.
  4. To round everything out, the bed is wrapped in an organic cotton cover, which gives it a premium feel and earthy aesthetic.

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress performance

Motion isolation

Since this bed is mainly made up of latex foam, a responsive material, it’s not going to exhibit the best motion isolation. That said, it shouldn’t overly reverberate your partner’s nightly movements to your side of the mattress, causing you to wake up. We’d say the Botanical Bliss performs average when it comes to deadening cross-mattress movement. If getting something with good motion isolation is a top priority for you or your partner, consider a memory foam mattress.

Edge-to-edge support

Even though the Botanical Bliss doesn’t have any coils or reinforced edge features, it still performs fine in terms of edge support. Those latex foams do retain quite a bit of rigidity, especially on the edges, so if you or your partner like to hug the edges of the bed at night, you shouldn’t have any real issues with falling off this particular mattress. You’ll likely get better edge support long-term from something like a hybrid bed with reinforced coils along the edges, but there aren’t any major concerns here with the Botanical Bliss.

Temperature

It seems like every single online mattress brand likes to advertise how “cool” its beds sleep -- I mean, who doesn’t want to be cool, right? In a perfect world, most would sleep actively cool, but in reality, most sleep around a temperature-neutral range. This is definitely the case with the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss. It shouldn’t cool you down at night or excessively warm up on you, either.

Durability

Most all-foam beds typically aren’t as durable as hybrid ones. However, more premium styles of all-latex beds are usually pretty durable comparatively. For this reason, we’d say the Botanical Bliss should provide a good amount of durability over time for more body types. If you’re a much heavier person who’s upwards of 300 pounds, you may require more of an ultra-durable style of hybrid bed. In that case, feel free to check out our Best Beds for Heavy People list.

Who is the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress best for?

plushbeds-botanical-bliss-2025-sleepers-dl-12.jpg
Dillon Lopez/CNET

While anyone could get by sleeping on this mattress, this version of the Botanical Bliss will most likely appeal to a select group of sleepers. Here’s who we think will get the most out of it.

Sleeping position

The medium version is firmer, so it could work for a wide variety of sleeper types. That said, its firmer profile generally works best for primary back or stomach sleepers looking for a more supportive option. Most combination sleepers should also find the bed to feel accommodating.

The one preference I don’t entirely see this bed working for is strict side sleeping. Those sleepers usually prefer much softer options that provide lots of cushion for their shoulders and hips at night. On a bed like this, it could press against those areas on your sides more than you’d like. Unless you’re a side sleeper who prefers a firmer sleeping surface, I’d check out other options, like the ones on our best beds for side sleepers list.

Body type

As mentioned, this bed's premium, all-latex construction makes it supportive for all body types, including heavier people. If you’re an average-sized person or even on the smaller side, you could get by on a more affordable, all-foam choice.

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress pricing

SizeMeasurements (inches)Price
Twin 38x75 inches$2,849
Twin XL 38x80 inches$2,849
Full 54x75 inches$3,249
Queen 60x80 inches$3,349
King 76x80 inches$3,649
Cal King 72x84 inches$3,649

There’s no getting around it; this mattress is expensive. Given that it’s a sustainably sourced product that’s handcrafted with high-quality materials, I suppose it’s priced accordingly. The good news is that PlushBeds, as a brand, offers aggressive discounts on its beds year-round. After you apply one to the queen size, you can expect to pay considerably less, around $1,850. The bed is even available in split firmness varieties, including a split queen -- we rarely see those.

Trial, shipping and warranty

PlushBeds backs its Botanical Bliss mattress with some nice policies. Its beds ship to you for completely free, and once in your possession, you get a 100-night trial period to try them at home risk-free. If you happen not to like your PlushBeds mattress within that time frame, you can return it for free. On the other hand, if you decide to keep it, you’re backed by a lifetime warranty.

How does the Botanical Bliss mattress compare to other mattresses?

Botanical Bliss vs. Signature Bliss

These are two of the brand's most popular mattresses, and while they’re both PlushBeds, they’re very different in numerous ways. For starters, the Signature Bliss is a hybrid mattress with coils on the bottom for support and a pillow top for comfort. The Botanical Bliss is an all-latex foam mattress, which doesn’t incorporate support coils or a pillow top. It’s got a flatter sleeping surface and a firm, latex foam feel. Between the two, it’s also the thinner and more affordable option. With both options, you’ve got a variety of firmness options to choose from as well.

Botanical Bliss vs. Zenhaven

Given that these are both premium, all-latex foam beds of the natural and organic variety, they have a lot in common. The biggest difference between them is that Zenhaven is a double-sided mattress with a different firmness on either side. Both sides of the Zenhaven are also slightly firmer than the Medium model of the Botanical Bliss. If you’re looking for the more affordable option, you’ll be saving quite a bit more cash by going the Botanical Bliss route.

The final verdict

PlushBeds continues to impress us with the level of natural and organic comfort the Botanical Bliss offers. If you’re looking for an all-latex foam bed backed by tons of eco-certifications with a latex foam feel that’s available in a few height and firmness options, the Botanical Bliss seems like a no-brainer -- just so long as you have the budget for it.

You might like the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress if:

  • You want an all-latex foam mattress
  • You want a bed that’s available in two firmnesses
  • You want bed a sustainably sourced option
  • You’re willing to spend up for something nice

You might not like the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss bed if:

  • You're looking for a neutral foam mattress
  • You prefer the feel of a dense memory foam mattress
  • You want a softer option to accommodate side sleeping
  • You’re looking for a more affordable mattress
