Chances are that if Apple makes a product, someone's going to make an accessory for it. So I wasn't surprised when I saw Catalyst's new AirPods Case ($25), which not only protects your AirPods' case but makes it fully waterproof. It'll be available this May in a few different color options, including a glow-in-the-dark version that costs $5 more.
Catalyst, which makes waterproof iPhone cases, let me play around with an advance sample of the AirPods Case, and I've been pretty impressed. By that I mean it actually seems like a useful add-on that's not only protective but just as importantly, may keep you from losing your AirPods (it makes Apple's shiny, smooth case a whole lot grippier and also integrates a clip-on carabiner).
The Catalyst AirPods case is open at the top but still makes your AirPods' case watertight.
The silicone sleeve has a gasket that seals off the AirPods case's Lightning port. While the sleeve is open at the top, making it easy to roll down and access your AirPods, the sleeve manages to seal off the AirPods case to keep any water from seeping in for a short period of time.
The Catalyst case is IP67 certified, which means it's designed keep water out when submerged in up to three feet (1m) of water for 30 minutes. In other words, your AirPods should survive a quick dip in the pool without a problem.
A gasket covers the Lightning port.
