The Pixel 9, which starts at $799, has a new look. The camera bar no longer stretches across the entire rear of the phone, and the front and back are both covered in Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The metal edges are also flatter and more dramatic compared with the Pixel 8. It makes the Pixel 9 look more like the iPhone, and that's a good thing.
The Pixel 9 has a 6.3-inch screen, making it slightly larger than the Pixel 8.
The screen is also brighter on this year's phone.
The ultrawide camera has a 48-megapixel sensor, which is an upgrade from the Pixel 8's 12-megapixel ultrawide shooter.
Otherwise, the Pixel 9's camera is more or less the same as the Pixel 8's.
The camera bump protrudes from the back of the phone, but it's not too noticeable when resting it on a flat surface.
The Pixel 9 comes in peony pink (pictured), wintergreen, porcelain (white) and obsidian (black).
The Pixel 9 comes loaded with a bunch of new AI features. Pixel Studio is an image generation app that lets you create almost anything by typing in a prompt.
Google is also emphasizing its Gemini virtual assistant, which isn't exclusive to just Pixel phones. You can ask Gemini about specific apps on screen or just ask it a general question.
There's also a new Pixel Screenshots app that lets you search for content saved in screenshots on your device.
The Pixel 9 also has a slightly larger battery than the Pixel 8.
