TCL is continuing to bring its NxtPaper phone line -- which includes screens that switch between a traditional mode and a mode that mimics an e-reader -- to the US with a North American exclusive model that includes a button dedicated to reading.

The $200 TCL 60 XE NxtPaper 5G, unveiled Monday at TCL's CES 2025 keynote, includes the NxtPaper Key button alongside the company's Max Ink Mode. Both features debuted on prior TCL phones that were released internationally, but this will be the first bringing them to the US. The Max Ink Mode reduces power consumption to allow the device to support up to a week of reading, and also silences notifications.

When the phone isn't in its reading setting, the phone's 6.8-inch display can run at a 120Hz refresh rate. It will also come with 256GB of internal storage and 8GB of onboard memory. TCL said that the phone will also include a triple camera system with a 50-megapixel main camera and a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.

TCL K32

The TCL K32 will be priced for under $100 when it launches in September.

The TCL 60 XE NxtPaper 5G will first get a Canadian release this May, and a US release is set to follow. TCL also announced the K32, which will be priced for under $100, include 5G compatibility and it'll be released in September. No other specs for this lower-priced option were revealed at this time.
