Verizon customers are getting a holiday gift a little early. Those with the carrier's Unlimited plans, or with new Fios Home or 5G Home internet service accounts, will receive 12 months of Disney Plus for free starting Tuesday, the launch date for the streaming service. After the promotional period, the subscription for the new streaming service will jump up to $6.99 per month.
Customers must enroll in Unlimited before June 1, 2020, to receive the free year.

Those who prepurchased a Disney Plus plan such as the now-expired three-year discounted subscription deal can stack their one free year on top of it. According to a Verizon FAQ, when a customer enrolls in the promotion plan, their prepurchased subscription will be put on hold for the year. After a year, the Disney Plus account will resume with the prepurchased subscription.
George Koroneos, PR manager for Verizon, tweeted a short video Tuesday to show how customers can receive their free years of Disney Plus with the My Verizon app. Users will need to click on Account, log in, go to Add Ons, select the Entertainment tab, click on the Learn More button for Disney Plus, read through the terms and click on Enroll.

Disney Plus is seeking Netflix's crown. Disney plans to bring over its large catalog of family-friendly movies along with those from the other studios and properties it owns. This includes all the Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar movies. Disney also owns Fox TV shows such as The Simpsons and Malcolm in the Middle, and the company is developing new series based on its Marvel and Star Wars properties such as The Mandalorian, WandaVision and Falcon and Winter Soldier.
Verizon Unlimited plans start at $70 for a single line after discounts and before taxes and fees. Verizon Fios packages start off at $70 as well, while 5G Home internet starts at $50 when coupled with a wireless plan.
