If there's one thing artificial intelligence has taught me, it's that having something to turn to for collaboration, perspective and feedback is vital for my growth and development. 

This focus correlates with my interest in the mystical realm. So I decided to seek out a tool that would put these two interests together, and came across Tarotoo, an AI-powered platform that offers free, personalized tarot and psychic readings in an effort to make spiritual guidance more readily accessible. 

AI Atlas

Created by Yaroslav Kyrychenko, the platform uses AI to generate quick and personalized readings in multiple tarot spread offerings designed for tarot enthusiasts. The platform offers a free or premium plan ($60 a year) and is available for download in the Apple app store. 

Tarotoo's illustrated tarot deck and AI-driven interpretations -- it uses ChatGPT-maker OpenAI's API behind the scenes, built out with with custom prompts and logic -- differentiate it from traditional, tangible tarot platforms, and it does offer ease of use since there's nothing tangible to use (or lose).

You just need to be willing to place some of your more personal, philosophically inclined entries with an AI-powered platform.

How to use Tarotoo for tarot reading

Tarotoo has a standard process and is easy to set up:

  1. Access Tarotoo from its website or via its mobile app if you're an iPhone or iPad user. 
  2. You'll be asked to select the reading type you'd like to choose from. You can choose AI Tarot from here.
  3. Input your question or choose a set number of cards from the deck. This triggers the AI to generate a response to your specific question or tailored to the type of tarot you're navigating. 
  4. It takes around 20 seconds for the AI tool to generate your reading after you've flipped three cards. It will then give fairly detailed readings of what each card means, and translate that contextually with relation to the specific question you asked at the beginning -- similar to if someone pulled them for you.
  5. Once you've generated your responses and read over their takeaways, screenshot the cards or write down your findings for future reflection.

This process is customizable and can give you immediate insight on whatever you're navigating. If it's written in the stars, it stays in the stars, right?

Who should use AI tarot readings?

If you love exploring self-reflection through a mix of intuition and tech, Tarotoo is fun and worth spending some time with. It's designed for those who are curious about tarot but maybe not ready to spend money on a live reader (or leave their home).

Tarotoo's ideal users range from beginners wanting to dip a toe into daily tarot to more integrated mystic types. Plus, Tarotoo does have an aesthetically pleasing interface that complements its focus on guidance that's more spiritual than strategic (though I could argue that choice was, in fact, a strategic one). 

If you're unsure if you would like Tarotoo, here are some scenarios where you might benefit from a tarot reading:

  • Before accepting a new job offer: You're excited… but unsure if it's the right fit. A quick pull in Tarotoo can help you explore what you're gaining, what you might be leaving behind and what to keep in mind moving forward.
  • On a Sunday night to reset: You want to feel more centered heading into a new week. You pull from the Daily Tarot deck for a gentle reflection on what matters right now, and what you can let go of to make space for something new. 
  • After a triggering text: Instead of spiraling or screenshotting it to the group chat, you pull a card to help you ground yourself and get clear on what you want to say, not just responding in a familiar, equally triggering way.

This tool is useful for folks who want quick insight in real time -- mid-convo, mid-decision or mid-spiral -- without needing to schedule something days in advance. 

The free version offers enough to get you started, like single card pulls and AI insights across its different tarot offerings for occasional use. The paid plan provides everything in the free model, plus deeper access within the platform through multicard pulls, unlimited access and the option to download readings for future reflection. It also has an AI-powered "psychic" chatbot.
